Membership of Walton and Weybridge Film
|Our seasons run from September to
the following April or early May. Films are shown at roughly
3-weekly intervals on Wednesdays, commencing at 8pm. There is a
small Christmas party after the nearest screening prior to
Christmas, which is free to members and their guests.
Our membership fee for the year is £45 for a single member, £80
for joint membership for two persons.
Discounts of £2 single and £4 double are available for
applications made before August 23rd.
Members book guests in advance with the Membership Secretary
(contact details below), and pay £5 per guest on the door.
If you would like to join our Film Society, please print
this application form and follow
the information contained within.
If you wish to contact our
Membership Secretary, you can email our Membership Secretary at
Please include in your email your name, address, and email
address and phone number. If you are requesting joint
membership, these details should be supplied for the joint
member as well. The email address is only used for matters
directly related to the Film Society such as last minute changes
in screenings, membership renewal etc.
If membership is full, names go on a chronological waiting list,
and people on the waiting list will be contacted as soon as
membership spaces become available, usually late August/early
September just before the next film season starts.
The committee meets from time to time to select the films to be
shown. Members are encouraged to nominate films they would like
considered for the programme. If you would like to nominate a
film, please email our Chairman, Ken Wilson, on

|We have completed our first
season at The Hepworth Playhouse, and the venue has proved to be
a great success, providing a much more intimate auditorium than
we had at Cleves School. In addition, the professional services
of Proscreens have provided first-class projection and sound
with the minimum of fuss.
These improvements have not come without a financial cost
considerably greater than experienced at Cleves School,so we are
obliged to increase membership subscriptions – but retaining the
‘Early Bird Discounts’ and Guest Tickets at £5. In order to
avoid excruciating postage costs, membership cards and film
notes will be
distributed at film showings – although, of course, if a large
SAE is provided when forwarding your membership application,
your documentation will be posted to you. In the meantime, it
will be possible from July to view the season’s programme and
contents of the film notes on our website: wawfs.com.
We look forward to our 2016/17 Season with renewed enthusiasm
and the roster of films to compare with any previous season.
Maintaining our aim to show ‘World Cinema’ we will feature films
from Iran, Mali, Iceland, Sweden and Argentina as well as from
more traditional countries such as USA, UK, France and Italy.
Matching the range of countries of origin is the range of themes
of the films, and not forgetting comedies.
I take this opportunity to report that we have not yet been able
to recruit a Secretary or a Membership Secretary. These posts
are not onerous; there is a flurry of activity prior to each
season, but not a
lot subsequently. I appeal (again) to members to come forward to
assist in any way possible.
We are very grateful to those members offering such services as
provision of tea and coffee (free, and with biscuits!) after our
showings and listing reactions given by members to the films
shown. These services add ‘extras’ to a basic film-showing
enterprise and are handled without requiring Committee
We can be similarly flexible regarding positions such as
Secretary and Membership Secretary,so don’t feel there would
Keep completing those reaction slips – they help greatly with
programme planning and also allow members the opportunity to
offer suggestions for films on the reverse of the slips!
